Ethical production and luxe design are no longer mutually exclusive: see NYC brand A Peace Treaty for proof. Founders Farah Malik (a Muslim from Pakistan) and Dana Arbib (a Jewish woman from Libya) are inspired by the craft cultures of the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Africa, where they spend months researching indigenous handcrafting techniques. Malik and Arbib then collaborate with local artisans to produce stunning heirloom pieces, with most of the profit going straight back to the producers.
A Peace Treaty’s ethical efforts and chic aesthetic has not gone unnoticed – the brand is currently supported by the prestigious CFDA Fashion Incubator program in New York. Remember where you saw ‘em first!
